NGC6205 I bought the album mainly because of the track "Deja Vu". I think the song is great.
"The Black Dog" is also a good song. Favorite track: Deja Vu.

Ash-covered Ghoul Like most, I came for Deja Vu. But the rest of this EP is so good, and the sound palette fairly diversified. There's a pop influence, here, and a bit of Lilith Fair-era alt-rock and Riot Grrl punk that make Dead Spells stand out from the goth rock landscape. Favorite track: Watery Grave.

franklynray Every song on this album is amazing. It's been two years since this EP dropped and I have been listening to every track since. Beautiful stuff! I can't wait to hear whatever comes out next. Favorite track: Watery Grave.

Christian Schaefer Featured this album on the forty third issue of RULE of THREE (bit.ly/RULEofTHREEbc). Deja Vu by Dead Spells is a beautiful slice of contemporary “witch” goth - dark, brooding and powerful with a hook to absolutely die for. Sparing, understated guitars, drums and bass keep the track tight and focussed as the lyrical theme develops with slight musical traces of Danielle Dax and Bauhaus in the mix. After just a few listens you’ll quickly finding yourself singing “things that make me… hate… myself“ Favorite track: Deja Vu.

D. There is so much I could say about Dead Spells! For me, they are a siren song amongst the splintering cacophony of Seattle's modern music scene. Natalia's voice is strong, haunting and, at times, vulnerable. I find myself effortlessly floating around inside the little stories she crafts through her lyrics. Their sound is a perfect blend of dark, fuzzy, atmospheric guitar tones and thumping drums. Lots of attitude and charm. You don't want to pass this band up! Favorite track: Deja Vu.

there’s a devil at your door and your fingers are numb it’s a dark, cold world when you can’t feel the sun and the devil’s got your name written on his tongue there’s only one way out so you better run you better run you better run there’s a devil in your bed and he’s already won kissed you on the mouth stole the air from your lungs and when he whispers in your ear “thy will be done” there’s only one way out so you better run you better run you better run look what you’ll become you, you better run

Deja Vu 04:06
I’ve been living in a black cloud lies crumbling from my dust mouth how do I stop doing things that make me hate myself I draw circles with the lights out hexes tumbling from my feral mouth how do I stop doing things that make me cross myself I’ve been feeding from the tree of doubt excuses filling my dirt mouth how do I stop doing things that make me starve myself I carve names at the hideout teeth sharp in my sterile mouth how do I stop doing things that make me fight myself when did my fears all become true no I never had a chance in hell with you but still I try like deja vu no I never had a chance in hell with you I count beads I am so devout hypnotizing with my warm mouth how do I stop doing things that make me cross myself how do I stop doing things that make me hate myself when did my fears all become true never had a chance in hell with you but still I try like deja vu no I never had a chance in hell with you

Watery Grave 03:25
what keeps you up at night baby do you hear me call from under the sea does water fill your lungs do you choke on the ocean is there salt on your tongue it was too much to figure out so you took me to the lake by your house in the dead of night in your town tied an anchor to my ankles and you watched me drown at the bottom of the lake at the bottom of the lake i wait my heart floats but my body sank at the bottom of the lake i wait i wait do you like my skin cold and blue do i look pretty with a mouth full of water disappearing under sea foam calling out for you one last time no one knows but you, you know it's a curse to hear the siren's call and you can't swim that's one way to put out a fire with water at the bottom of the lake at the bottom of the lake i wait my heart floats but my body sank so at the bottom of the lake i wait i wait
4.
hang my head hang my heart oh how the fire consumes you now there is only the flame there is only desire and oh how the flame it takes you down and it burns just like a ring of fire and all the things she’ll never know are all the things i’ve lived with so you can carry on i tried to be a good girl i tried to not destroy your world so you can carry on i’ll hang my head and i’ll hang my heart
